El Mizouni on Target for Cambridge
Wednesday, 12th Feb 2020 10:28

Blues midfielder Idris El Mizouni netted his first league goal for loan club Cambridge United last night, a freekick curled into the top corner.

The Tunisian international, who is on loan with the U’s until the end of the season, put the League Two side ahead in the 16th minute in their 2-0 win at Scunthorpe.

The goal was the 19-year-old’s second senior strike, his first having come for the Blues in the Leasing.com Trophy tie at Peterborough in December.

El Mizouni has now made three starts and one sub appearance for the Abbey Stadium club.

Elsewhere, Jordan Roberts was in the Gillingham side which won 3-2 at Blackpool before being subbed in the penultimate minute, while Ben Folami made his second appearance from the bench for his loan club Stevenage in the 72nd minute as they lost 3-1 at Bradford.

El Mizouni has scored as many goals as ITFC have since he went out on loan right?

El Mizouni should be playing here right now, not at Cambridge. We had decent free kick chances last night but without Garbutt there was nobody else with the quality to take advantage. Now El Mizouni scores a peach of a free kick on the same night showing a far better technique than any of our players on the pitch or on the bench last night. It's ridiculous!
For years our team selections have driven me to despair. MCarthy sometimes killed me with the likes of Connor Sammon and Luke Varney, but Hurst and Lambert are proving just as stubborn and inflexible!
I think El Mizouni could go a long way, what's for sure, if we don't start playing him soon I'm sure there will be plenty of other clubs happy to give him an opportunity elsewhere.
Look at the stats of our midfield players and strikers. Calculate their number of assists and goals and it's just not up to scratch for a team with automatic promotion ambitions. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know that it's time to cut our losses with the same old faces and start giving opportunities with players that clearly have far more talent and potential to go somewhere in the game. The wages of some of our players are high for this league yet there are players elsewhere earning far less but producing far more. I'm fed up of hearing the excuses. They aren't good enough and there are better alternative options being continually overlooked. SORT IT OUT LAMBERT!

They say a cat has 9 lives, well that's nothing on some of our players, they get 99 lives and the rest. Last night we have dangerous free kicks in and around the box. That's when you want an El Mizouni to step up, not any of the toothless tigers we had on show last night! Remember he scored against Peterborough away in the League Trophy! Then we put the so called first team out (with no El Mizouni in sight) and we end up getting tonked 4 nil at home! Seriously, it's driving me mad.
It's like going into a gun fight without any ammo some of these toothless line ups we've had under McCarthy, Hurst and Lambert. After McCarthy we all wanted to see more attacking football so what did Evans do, get in Hurst who insisted on playing 1 up front! And then along come Lambert and he did the same for quite a while too. Evans clearly isn't a man who learns from his mistakes! His business skills clearly don't translate at all well to football. He just seems to go round and round in circles repeating the same old gaffes! Does he not even ask the managers to do the basics like looking at a players stats? It's all there to be seen. Number of completed passes, number of yards covered, number of goals, number of assists, number of games played, number of tackles, number of passes, number of injuries. We seem to have all our recruitment upside down!
Look at any team that has got promoted and those are the benchmarks needed to go up, if players are falling well short over the course of a season then it's time to ship them out! Football is an unforgiving game, that is unless you play for Ipswich it seems!!!!

Why are we plodding on with plodders.? Why are we not getting the best out of our young players ? Get rid of the talkers at this club and play the lads who want to show up in EVERY game.

We have young Players at this Club that should now be playing - why are they not? - because we have a stubborn, inept Manager who is almost a carbon copy of the previous one.
It isn't Rocket science to see that.
